Zell, Julius R. is one of
the successful farmers of Clifton township and is highly regarded
by all who know him. He is well informed on all the topics of the
day and is a great reader, being very fond of good literature. He
was born in Marquette county, Wisconsin, October 26, 1874, son of
Gotlieb and Carrie (Job) Zell, the former of whom now resides in
Augusta, Wis., and the latter of whom died on February 25, 1907.
Julius received his early education in Eau Claire county,
Wisconsin, and attended the high school at Augusta, Wis. He then
started farming with his father. After a residence of some eight
years in Faribault county, Minnesota, he came to Clifton township
and purchased a farm in section 10, upon which he has been very
successful. He owns 115 acres of well-situated land, fifty being
under cultivation and the remainder being covered with a heavy
growth of timber. He is independent in politics and attends the
Methodist Church. Mr. Zell was married March 12, 1903, to Edith
Oliver, born February 24, 1879, a resident of Faribault county,
Minnesota. Three bright children have blessed this union: Sydney
O., born November 26, 1903; Harold J., born February 13, 1905,
and Merrill E., June 23, 1907.Taken from "History of the St.
Croix Valley", published in 1909).
