The waves of white settlers came in in groups. The French were here first. Then came the Norwegians in great numbers. The Irish were the next group along with a few Germans and a number of Easterners resided here. The following lists the purchasers of those first 40-200 acre chunks of land. It is duplicated from the Tract Index. Some of these names, of the Norsk, at least were permanent settlers. Others moved on to other locations.
